March 2010

There really isn't enough photos from march to justify dividing it all into the separate days. March was a fairly monotonous month. Put corn up, load the truck, put corn up, load the truck. Finished the last of the contracted corn shipping near the end of the month. Left only with 2 bins of corn. About 500tonnes in total remain. That likely won't go out until after the spring rush is over. A great deal of our equipment went into the various dealerships for winter service specials. The combine was cleaned up and sent in to be looked over. The 8200 needed a minor engine job, the 8440 had a bad axle bearing, 6200 needed some front axle work, TV-140 had a bad axle bearing (not sure why this was such a common problem this year? Guess 2010 is the year of the bearing?) The 9250 went in to be looked over. For the longest time there was a different tractor on the manure spreader each week. The 54ft cultivator was taken to a welding shop to have a few cracks and a broken piece repaired. Also ended up changing ALL the hydraulic lines as 2 blew while unfolding it in the yard. Also put on new harrow teeth on both cultivators and new shovels on the 32ft. The Shovels for the 54ft still haven't come in spite being ordered in October!!! I also got my ACZ license mid month and can now drive our semi which will really simplify moving our heavy equipment around this coming year. By the end of the month things were really greening up, snow was all gone and we ended up having a snowless march. The first in my lifetime! A few people frost seeded spring wheat in the last week of March with varying degrees of success.
